S104 - The Voyager Mission
NASA's Voyager Mission stands out as one of the most successful space exploration endeavors. It consists of two space probes, named Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, that took a tour of the Solar System flying by Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune as well as 48 of their moons. These probes returned photos and data.
These probes were launched in 1977 and are still functioning over 40 years later. Voyager 1 made news in 2012 by exiting the solar system into interstellar space. Voyager 2 exited the solar system in 2018. Both probes are still in communication with the U.S. Deep Space Network.
This material covers the Voyager mission from their manufacture and launch, their solar system tour, and now their voyage through interstellar space.
